David Bronson's father, James Bronson, was a Motor Machinist Mate aboard the USS LST-325 from January 1942 until December 1945. James passed away in 1994, just prior to the 50th anniversary memorials of the Normandy invasion. The idea for Mosier's Raiders was born after David and his wife Donna attended the 1999 reunion of the ship's crew, the first time he had met any of the men his father had served with.
David also served as a Machinist Mate aboard a "gator freighter", an amphibious assault ship, during the early 1980's.
Along with serving as "historian" for the LST Ship Memorial, Inc., David is involved with several veteran's organizations, including:
  • Michigan LST Association
  • Life member (associate) Michigan Chapter 101st Airborne Association
  • Life member (associate) 325th Glider Infantry Association
  • 6th Navy Beach Battalion Association
