- Around 2,100 Fort Campbell and 101st Airborne Division soldiers are now scheduled to deploy to Iraq to support Operation
Iraqi Freedom beginning this week. Units will continue deploying through January and are expected to be in Iraq for one year.
This will be the second trip to the region for many of the troops. The 101st Airborne originally deployed to Iraq in February
of 2003 and began returning to Fort Campbell in December of that year. Units that have received deployment orders include
the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment of the 106th Transportation Battalion, the 372nd Transportation Company, the
494th Transportation Company, 541st Transportation Company, the 613th Movement Control Team, the Headquarters and Headquarters
Detachment of the 129 Corps Support Battalion, the 50th Medical Company, the 86th Combat Support Hospital, the Headquarters
and Headquarters Detachment of the 716th Military Police Battalion, the 194th Military Police Company, the 163rd Military
Police Team, the 2-101 Aviation Battalion, and the 4/3 Aviation Battalion.
